Acting Coach

Clare offers acting coaching for actors at all ages and levels. She works with where the actor is at to build a reliable rehearsal technique unique to each actor, with character development, text analysis, speech, and physicality. Particular focus on audition prep for the working professional, and for university conservatory programs and drama schools.

Coaching and audition prep sessions are one-on-one. Small group scene study courses also available for up to 6 actors. Sessions can be Virtual or In-Person (NYC- or ATL-based only, depending on availability), or a mix of both

Having worked for almost 20 years in the industry across three continents, I trained at NYU-Tisch and Stella Adler Studio in NY, Drama Centre and RADA in London, UK, and the Vakhtangov Institute in Moscow.

I have a keenly-honed understanding of what tools an actor needs to do their job to the fullest, as well as the different nuances that are expected of actors in the US and UK in applying for training programs.

Clare Latham is as good as it gets. She has a deep understanding of all major practitioners, but more importantly she has great courage, imagination, and compassion. Working with Clare has been a major career highlight.

  • We start by clarifying what your goals are, and create a format for our sessions to help you get there. We can expand the pieces you have and love to perform, or we can pick a genre/writer/theatrical era and create a program around exploring it. We work on acting technique, audition preparation, or a mix of both. We'll go through exercises and develop your craft, and rehearse material that you’ll be working on.

  • We work on acting technique and audition preparation in a more structured class format. We'll go through exercises and develop your craft, and rehearse material that you'll work be working on amongst your fellow classmates. Opportunity to work/play/learn together with your fellow actors who may not live in the same city. A great way to keep sharp in between jobs and add material to your arsenal while working with real scene partners, not just readers.

  • Effective hit 20-minute sessions to help you get to a place where you feel at your most confident, comfortable, and excited going into an audition. We can start from the ground up, analyzing your specific text and character study, or I can be your reader and give you notes/direction. We can also talk about how to handle auditions, both online and IRL.

Totally up to you, the focus here is getting you ready!

The tools an actor relies on as they develop their craft are the same tools needed by any professional to be competitive and sought after in their field. When operating at their full potential, the people using these tools are confident, calm, clear, and compassionate.

Ten percent of human communication is verbal. The science of brain chemistry shows us that the information we absorb from each other comes from all facets of how we communicate: how our body is moving, what our voice sounds like, and how comfortable we seem in our own skin. An imbalance of these factors can communicate uncertainty, an infirmity of ideas, or a lack of interest in the party being communicated to. When we work together in a professional environment, we seek that harmony and balance in ourselves and how we engage with the colleagues around us.

I work with individuals and groups across multiple industries using tangible techniques to isolate what isn’t working and harness the many subtle abilities we need to communicate, in order to be successful in the corporate landscape. Coaching is available as One-on-One Sessions or Small Group Seminars, both virtually and in-person (NYC and ATL only), depending on availability.

Corporate Coaching

“Often, we are not even consciously aware of many of our nonverbal behaviors. Although nonverbal cues can communicate liking/positivity or dominance, and static nonverbal cues of appearance (e.g., attractiveness, shape of face, hair, or mode of dress) can communicate gender, age, and a variety of factors, nonverbal communication is best suited to convey affect. In fact, one could argue that it is impossible to accurately convey emotions without using nonverbal cues (e.g., if a person says that he or she is happy but his or her face doesn’t show it, you likely won’t believe him or her).”
